Although there are a number of people who encouraged me to create this blog, people who backed me and motivated me, I am in fact doing it for me. For my own hobby. My own interest.
So on that note, what do I put up as a first post? It is difficult to know where to start. What can be my first post on my new blog.
Rather than start in the past, at the beginning, I am going to start right now. What is happening in my life right now.
Something which I try and focus on often is the concept of "living in the moment" and "being present". Enjoy the smaller and more insignificant things in life. Turning those insignificant things into wonderful moments.
I often say to my husband, we are parents, we have two young children. There may not be perfect holidays, perfect weeks, or even perfect days. Aim for perfect moments. That moment in life when something happens that takes your breath away. Where you stop and think to yourself, right now I am truly happy.
This weekend I was blessed. I was lucky enough to experience a number of these moments.
One in particular was with my little girl. She is only 3 1/2. She is wiser than her years and her heart is so gentle and full of love and compassion.
We were out for the day in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Having a lovely afternoon picnic with some family friends. It was almost time to leave and Sophia and her friend wanted to go for a quick swim. We decided to let them.
The weather was perfect, the beach had no waves and the water was crystal clear. We weren't prepared for swimming so we let her run into the water in her clothes. As you can imagine not before long she was swimming around in her underwear.
That was my moment. Right there, standing on the sand watching her splash around in the waves.
This is her time, her childhood. We are creating memories that will potentially stay with our children for the rest of their lives.
I had flash backs of my own childhood doing similar activities with my parents and sister. Swimming in the late afternoon at the beach. Enjoying every last minute of the Autumn sun.
I just stood there and watched her playing, the smile, the laughter, the pure happiness. In that exact moment everything in the world was right, everything was perfect.
As adults we know life goes so fast, we know each year seems shorter than the last. As children the days are still long. The weeks feel like a month. Time isn't rushed for them. There are no deadlines, no stress and no responsibility.
Every now and then it is so important to stop and see the life through the eyes of a child.
Don't be nervous. You are made to do this and so glad you are. Im sure you will inspire many. Love your post. Thank you for sharing such a precious moment. You made me smile :)
